Stuart FL, Fishing Reports

Spanish Mackeral

Fished last Tues with Scott Honeycutt from Plantation.   We anchored up off South Miami and started our chum flow. Scott was using pilchards as well as myself. It took about 10 minutes for our first fish.  Several in the 3-5 lb class were boated. We ended up with a nice catch of mackeral  for the morning bite. Capt. Matt

Fall Migration Not Far Away

Fishing has been generally slow from the reports I have been getting.  Bait is still hard to come by and you need to work buoys or any kind of structure with sabikis.  Sometimes it helps  if you can tip some of them with a tiny piece of shrimp.   Blackfins, kings and sailfish have been scattered.  Dolphin have been offshore, mainly past 300 ft.   You need to get lucky and find some kind of debris floating, which always helps.  Swordfish are still being caught  in 1600 ft.  October and November have usually been very good times to target them.  The bait migration is  still some miles away and soon they will be here thick,  with all the predators not far behind them for an easy meal.

Now Fishing in NJ for the summer

Just a reminder that I will be in New Jersey for the summer fishing for stripers and tuna.  I will be back in Florida in October,   Thanks,  Capt Matt

Tarpon

Fished with Wayne, Kelly and their friend Carrie for a few hours of Tarpon fishing last Friday.   A front was comming through and I knew we would have fish hard for them.  Set up and the wind was out of the south, then west then the north west.  We searced for them and left with no tarpon, after a few hours.    Once in a while it happens and it just worked out in favor of the fish tonight.  Very nice people from Nebraska and we will get them their tarpon next time.    Capt.  Matt
